1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Recreation This Mustang has undergone a complete restoration from front to back, inside, outside, top to bottom. Approximately $120K in receipts for the project. It started out as a 1968 Mustang Fastback with a J code 302 4 barrel engine. The owner hired automotive illustrator Jason Rushforth to come up with the concept for the finished car. From there it was taken apart and rebuilt with everything new or rebuilt. The majority of the work was done at Performance Associates in San Dimas, California. The car is beautiful and ready to show. The engine is completely new. It started with a new Motorsport 302 block and was bored out to a 347. The end result is an engine dyno’d at 489 HP. The C4 automatic transmission was completely rebuilt and is connected to a 9 inch rear with 3.50:1 differential gear ratio. Suspension, steering and brakes have all been upgraded to modern. Baer Brakes, GW Control Arms, Delrin Bushings, Flaming River Steering, A custom leather enclosure surrounds the Hurst Pistol-Grip Quarter Stick Shifter. The entire interior was redone with leather seating as well as door and side panels. Underneath the interior is completely lined with Dynamat insulation system. New wiring was installed. There is a Vintage Air air conditioning system. Gauges are Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lites. Once the car was rebuilt, it was painted by Santini-USA in an awesome Woodland Green Metallic and Black.
The project started in 2001 and was completed in October of 2004. A complete photo documentation of the restoration including receipts comes with the car. Since then, the car has spent most of the time garaged and covered. The car is very fast and very tastefully done. It goes nowhere unnoticed, even in car crazy Southern California. The entire car is like new. It smells new. Everything has been detailed and is ready to show. It has just been sorted by Performance Associates before being offered for sale to make sure everything is ready to go. This Mustang is being offered for sale by Bond Motors. Exterior:
The exterior has been completely redone. Nothing was left untouched. The paint on this car is beautiful. It is a two tone design with black over Woodland Green Metallic sides. The stripes are Woodland Green Metallic. In low light and shade, the car appears black. In the light, the green comes to life. Eleanor would be jealous. The paint work was done by Santini USA in Westminster, California. They are a very highly regarded shop. The paint job cost was over $10K. Chrome, bezels, lettering, moldings, trim and seals have all been replaced. The trunk and hood are fiberglass. The windows have been tinted to eliminate any rays that could harm the completely redone interior.
Interior:
The interior has been completely redone from the carpets to the headliner, from the dash pad to the back window. All of the seats including the door skins and rear side panels have been done in high quality black leather by Westminster Auto Upholstery. It is in outstanding like new condition. The Hurst Pistol-Grip Quarter Stick Shifter has a custom built leather covered enclosure. The Ultra Lite gauges are all new and working as expected. They look great behind the LECARRA Mark 9 polished steering wheel. There is currently no radio in the car. The best sound you’ll hear is made by the car so who needs one? The rear seat folds down into a package shelf. All seatbelts are brand new.
Trunk:
The trunk has been completely covered in high quality custom carpeting with stitched binding.– the same as would be found in a Mercedes-Benz. .This is not some cheap nylon carpet kit. Everything has been done including the inside of the quarter panels and the taillight covers.
Engine and Drivetrain:
The balanced and blueprinted engine is completely new. It started with a Motorsport 302. Performance Associates then built it up to a 489 horsepower brute. Some of the components that make up the engine are:

Undercarriage:
The undercarriage and interior fenders were prepped, painted and 3M undercoating was applied. The exhaust system is custom high performance triple ceramic coated. The driveshaft is custom fabricated. There are Edelbrock Special Built shock absorbers. New Baer brakes were also installed all around. The 9” rear end has a 3.50:1 gear ratio differential. The wheels are 16” American Racing Salt Flat Specials with Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra tires. 225 front and 255 rear.
